When it gets hot:

June 29, 2009 at 7:02 pm (asthma, chronic conditions, domestic life) (, )

Starting with the obvious: do what has to be done in the morning or evening– After noons are for not moving. close up the house by 10 — open it between 530 and 630.

Move the fans as needed. Ice foot baths and icey clothes from the freezer. don’t forget the ice cream.

Don’t be a martyr. Heat means spare the air days around here. Even a few hours in air conditioning can help you breathe. Malls, Libraries, and places like panera and Starbucks.

and there there are the all important Marriott points. One good night of sleep with air conditioning and a pool… could save a life.

Just for future refenece

exciting events today

June 26, 2009 at 9:39 pm (books, domestic life, tech) ()

about 10 minutes before DH got home my new laptop arrived. It is very shiny. This is the first actual new computer I’ve had in over 10 years. Very Exciting. But I did not get to play with it, because 15 minutes after DH got home we had to run across the bay to go to Jilli’s book signing.

As you might have guessed, Jilli is a very entertaing speaker. And her DH is adorable ( I know that puts me on the list, but I can’t help it) And mom, Jilli agrees with you, I may be more goth than I think

But you have to do something. and irritating the kitty is fast and something I am good at. Results : PICTURES!

Clear Heart

I read this book a while ago and it has stuck with me. It is a really well told story with well drawn characters. It is the story of Wally , a perfectionist carpenter. He is building a house for a recent dot-com millionaire. And things go as you might expect. The story is also a romance, between people that need to learn to trust. But mostly, it just has great characters. From Wally to 2 year Ronny — all the characters feel well- drawn , even it they are just sketched.
