End of the Century by Chris Roberson
This is one of those books that I am just not sure about . It is a story that weaves together 3 timeliness — the year 498, , 1897, and 2000. The Characters are a man form the time of Arthur, a Victorian detective and a modern teenage girl. All of the characters have visions, or some sort of my serious connection with something else.
I liked the three time lines . I like the mixing of the Arthur legend, Lewis Carroll, the hints of Sherlock Holmes, the bits of modern London and the hints of future technology. I liked watching the threads get tighter and the mystery get clearer.
I got lost at the end. Between the time travel and the number of different philosophies that were combining– my brain just spun. I got the gist of things, but I know I missed details that might have made things more fun. And part of it is due to the fact that I do not have the knowledge of something that were mentioned in the book. But part of it — the end felt rushed compared to the rest of the book. I gave it to DH to see what he thinks. The database in his head is bigger than mine
