here is the story of a man that needs a library

October 7, 2009 at 11:47 am (library, rant)

Library budgets are being cut every where. In this story an 11 year old girl defends her library. A man cuts her down to size:

He said Oak Brook had to “stop indulging people in their hobbies” and “their little, personal, private wants.”

Let’s start him with a book on manners.

He also complains about some one making 100K to put away books. He needs to brush up on he research skills. Do you know what someone making that salary is doing? Exactly what he asks for — trying to raise money and find resources for library funding (and developing relationships with various groups and members of the community, and finding ways to improve library service, and oddly – budgeting ).

Thanks to Closed Stacks for bringing this to my attention .

Sounds to me like a man who spends a great deal of time hating others. If you read the article he’s anti-subsidized housing for seniors too because “I don’t want to live next to poor people.” Apparently he grew up poor… he may be scared of falling back into that kind of a living situation.

That’s quite possible. I actively look for arguements against things I feel passionate about — I know I get blind to the negatives of anything I feel strongly about. But arguements that start from a point of ignorance a nd use insults instead of logic make me angry.
