don’t glue your carpet down.

Really, there is no reason for it.  Someday someone will want to take  it up.  and glue just makes an ugly dirty job even uglier.

Happily, there is only carpet left under  the fridge.  We still have linoleum to cut — it goes up the cabinets in the toe space.

Next put down the hardiebacker and then the slate ( Brazilian black slate)

My fingers hurt, under the nailbed.  This makes no sense to me.

under the evil

Here I am pulling up the carpet . We got smart and started pulling up six to eight inch strips. It doesn’t pull up easily, as I said before.

That ‘s because the used ALL THE GLUE IN THE WORLD to keep this ugly carpet attached to the floor.
You can see what I mean.

Evil, evil carpet

with surprise evil floor under it. Ancient linoleum tiles ( the fake brick look) with a nice thick layer of ancient glue. gross and really pretty too.( ok ,lying) To get up this carpet — we cut it in six inch strips and pull and pull and pull. cursing helps. First time I’ve ever wished for more junk in my trunk — I am just leaning back and using my whole body to pull the carpet. Right now,I’m pretending that there is nothing else I should be doing right now, but sit on the couch.
